My thoughts...

Getting Somewhere

This past month has posed new challenges and obstacles for my work but I am happy to feel as if I am finally finding a technique that is working for my art.

Testing multiple layers of latex house paint, I have found that the visual look I have been aiming for is in fact achievable. Using this new technique of layering the paint and letting it dry before creating the painting on top allows me to have a thick base layer of paint under the top layer. This thickness means I can carefully peel the paint off the plastic background and be able to display it wherever I choose.

The process of creating these paintings is rather long, but the end result is worth the work.

I have since started adding different materials to the base layers to add texture to the paintings that imitate nature and my surroundings.
