My thoughts...

New Beginning

This month has been about expanding on my main project consisting of melted green cups. This project took a while to develop and begin only because it came out of a failed attempt at creating something else. My intentions were to melt down plastic cups to create a thin flat layer of plastic that I could manipulate while warm to form plastic bubble shapes. When attempting to melt many plastics and failing to be able to bring the plastic to the consistency needed for my plans, I ended up with a few green cups melted together but still holding their individual circle shapes.

After talking to my mentor and realizing that I would not be able to melt plastic to a more liquid consistency, I decided to change my plans and use the plastic for what it can do rather than what I was trying to force it to do.

Melting down the cups with a heat gun they are assembled to the sculpture one by one. It is a long and tedious process but will hopefully have a magnified impact when it is done.

As of now I plan to continue this project next semester and come back as a Group 5 member with this sculpture even larger.
