Fail to Succeed

I began acting upon my plans by first testing out plastics that could melt. I planned to melt plastic bottles over a glass bowl in order to create clear bubbles to then assemble on the wall. I learned that clear plastic melts down and become white, rather than staying a clear transparency. I also discovered that the plastic would not melt into a liquid as I anticipated, but becomes more of a sticky substance like cold bubblegum, even though it is hot plastic. This discovery led to different project ideas that might be worked out in time to come.

In addition to using clear water bottles I also tried melting colored solo cups. This was a bit more satisfying but the results were still not what I had hoped.
