Mentor Meeting Outline

After talking with my artist mentor, Steve Locke, I feel more confident about my work and the path I am heading towards with upcoming pieces. Intuition plays a large role in my work. This intuition derives from music but is then divorced from the song as I create. The song, therefore, is not important for the viewer to know about. Determining if I should tell the viewer about the role that music plays in my work has been a back and forth debate in my head since I started this type of work in 2016. I did think it was important for the viewer to know where the work came from but now I am realizing it is not about the song or the “feelings” the song describes, but rather a sensation I become attached to and choose to portray in the work. It is my job as the artist to help the viewer feel that sensation through my work. This is the concept I will continue with as I keep creating.
